ALSO READ – Sony Officially Releases PlayStation 5 Design As reported by The Verge, previously, users had to transfer calls to the console manually using the Discord application on a cellphone or PC. Users can select the Discord server or DM group they want to join and instantly join a voice call without needing another app. Users will receive PS5 console notifications when other Discord users call them, allowing them to immediately join the conversation. The Discord feature is integrated into the PS5 dashboard, making it easy to access from anywhere on the system. The update is rolling out in stages over the next few weeks, with the first regions to receive it being Japan and Asia. This update brings the Discord experience on PS5 closer to what Microsoft offers on Xbox. Microsoft rolled out Discord support on Xbox in July 2022, and then improved it with a better experience without requiring a phone in November 2022. Xbox also allows users to stream their gameplay to friends via Discord. This improved Discord integration on PS5 is a positive step to improve the user experience and make it easier for gamers to connect with their friends and communities via Discord. With the ease of joining voice chats and practical call notifications, this feature is expected to be increasingly used by PS5 gamers.
